This will help you narrow your focus towards the specific types of careers you are best suited to succeed in. You can even find an online free career assessment test at a number of different sites.

I’ve personally tried a number of these tests and can honestly say that some of them provide some pretty good feedback. Some are better than others of course. I’ll share with you the test site I recommend to my clients a little later in this article. But first I want to give you an idea of what you can expect from a free online career test.

The first thing you need to know is that most of the best free career assessment sites will ask you to register with your name and e-mail address. So far I’ve noticed that the better sites are pretty respectable. In other words, they don’t bother you with too many follow-up e-mails. Several of them have never sent me a follow-up e-mail yet.

Just keep in mind that even if you do sign up for one of these career tests, and you find the provider sends you follow up e-mails you don’t want, you can unsubscribe with the click of a link provided at the bottom of their e-mails. The better free tests are well worth it.

Of course each test will very in the type of information it provides, but in general you can expect the following type of information from a good career test...

1. A list of your top career interests - Like Teaching, Sales, Engineering... and so on.

2. A list of your top skills - Like Writing, Communication, Creative Thinking... and so on.

3. Suggestions of where you may be the best fit within a career field or organization.

4. A variety of little insights into your psyche that provide clues to what you should be doing for a career. These very widely with each test out there, so you probably want to try more than one.
